Highlights include an African-inspired savanna exhibit housing elephants, lions, and giraffes. Visitors can feed the giraffe by hand by paying a small fee. You can also see hippos, chimpanzees, crocodiles, and African birds. 

Fair Park – If you want to experience the real slice of  Texas life then you need to visit the State Fair of Texas at Fair Park during late September to October. Some of the crazy things you can find here include car shows, rodeo and livestock events, petting zoos, a 55-foot-tall animatronic cowboy named Big Tex, amusements and arcades, mind-blowing culinary preparations like deep-fried bubblegum and funnel cake bacon queso burgers. 

You can also find at Fair park the largest Ferris wheel in North America, scenic gardens, swan boats, children’s aquarium, and museums. Have a lot of fun here!

Dallas Museum of Art – It has over 20,000 works in its free permanent collection. You can find many interesting things here, for example, on 4th floor you can see a re-created version of a wealthy couple’s 1950s home in Paris!

Reunion Tower – This can be prominently seen whenever you see the Dallas skyline. Resembling a 561-foot-tall microphone, the tower is notable for its observation deck offering 360-degree panoramic views of the metropolis below. Caddo Lake State Park – It is located roughly two and a half hours from Dallas, but the drive is well worth it. Its thick bald cypress trees dripping with Spanish moss and the maze of pools render an eerie, gothic beauty that is very different from other parts of Texas. Caddo Lake, the largest naturally formed lake in Texas, has over 50 miles of paddling trails that can be explored by canoe or kayak.
