Perot Museum of Nature and Science

Perot Museum of Nature and Science opened its doors to the public on December 1, 2012.

Located adjacent to Klyde Warren Park, in the heart of the city center, the Perot Museum of Nature and Science is a stunning, futuristic marvel designed by the renowned architect Thom Mayne, with a unique cube-shaped structure that appears to float above the surrounding landscape. The unique structure, with its distinctive appearance, is often referred to as the “rock building”. The museum’s interior is equally captivating, with 180,000 square feet of exhibition space that covers a vast range of topics, from prehistoric creatures to far-off galaxies.

Visitors can engage in interactive displays and immersive experiences, such as the thrilling “Earthquake Shake” in the Dynamic Earth Hall, and dads can indulge their sports passions in the Lamar Hunt Family Sports Hall.

Exhibits:

The museum is an awe-inspiring destination for discovery with 11 hands-on exhibit halls covering diverse topics, including prehistoric creatures, space exploration, energy production, evolution, geology, natural history, sports, astronomy, biology and technology. Visitors can engage in hands-on experiences and gain a personal and tactile understanding of these subjects.

The museum is home to unique scientific discoveries, such as the arctic dinosaur unearthed and named by the museum’s own paleontologists.

Other Specialities:

Visitors can also enjoy 3D films in The Hoglund Foundation Theater. For an additional fee, world-class traveling exhibitions are also available, providing fresh and exciting content throughout the year.

From the moment visitors arrive, they can begin their museum experience in the outdoor Science Park, featuring a musical forest, leapfrog forest, and splash pond. The museum also features an outdoor plaza, a café, a museum shop, and a main lobby, all offering free Wi-Fi access.

Café – is it worth a stop?

The museum boasts an exceptional on-site café by Wolfgang Puck, which enables visitors to fully experience and appreciate all the marvels that the museum has in store. With the convenience of the café, visitors can take their time to explore and uncover all the wonders, making it possible to spend an entire day at the museum.

The café serves pizzas, salads, soups, hamburgers, hotdogs and sandwiches. There’s plenty of basic kid-friendly fare.

Joshua L. says, “The food was really good and the prices are fairly reasonable considering the downtown location.”

What visitors had to say about their trip to the museum:

“We really enjoyed our visit to the Perot Museum. My favorite exhibit was the dinosaur and dinosaur fossils exhibit but they also had exhibits showcasing science, space, and geology. I would have to say the most fascinating thing that I saw during our visit was getting to watch the staff work on dinosaur fossils in real-time”, says Joshua L.

Jamie C. says, “The Perot Museum is truly delightful. There are so many engaging exhibits, and they really know how to make learning fun. With traveling exhibits and 3d movies, it is very easy to have a different adventure each visit!”
