Do less shopping
When you visit a new country or city you may be tempted to buy new things you see there which you may not find at your place. However if you have limited budget it is best to restrict your shopping.
Travel during off season
Accommodations, flight tickets, and food will usually be more expensive during peak season times. If you travel during off season you may save lot of money. The hotel accommodations are likely to be cheaper, travel costs may be less and moreover there may be lesser tourists around so you can avoid huge crowds.
Use Public Transport
Whenever you are exploring a city, you could use the public transport like the city’s bus service, instead of renting a cab. A lot of money is usually spent in transport, so using public transport can save you a lot of money.
Book a room with refrigerator / microwave or kitchen area
Although some people don’t like to cook during the holidays, it could be helpful in saving you an awful lot of money. You can also prepare your own tea or coffee when there is cooking facility in the room you have rented. A microwave or refrigerator can also help to heat the leftovers.

Visit the smaller towns
Budget travelers know that some of the best places to see in the United States are cities with a population of less than 20,000. Many of these small towns are equally, if not more, beautiful as the bigger cities and they offer lot of other benefits. Yo are likely to encounter warm, friendly people, diversity of culture, different cuisine, less traffic and less tourists, lower prices, etc. And you can have a lovely and enjoyable time visiting the smaller towns!
Shop at farmers’ markets and local stores
Farmers’ markets often have significantly lower the prices than what you might get at a larger grocery store. Also, shopping at local stores allows you to taste local food at much cheaper prices.
Walk a lot
If you want to really save lot of money while traveling, get into the fine habit of walking a lot. It can be good for your health as well as your pockets. In most cities, a lot of tourist attractions are located within short distances to one another. So, if possible, get on your feet and experience first hand what the city’s life is like!
