Among the major problems of the hotel franchise industry is that hotels usually do not get enough value or benefit as they should get. Moreover the hotels are made to pay huge sums of money to the brand. Many hotels incur huge debts as a result of this. It could take many years for the hotel to get out of the debt. In the meantime its business may suffer many consequences as a result of getting into the debts.

To make things worse, the brands may put additional burden upon the hotels by making constant and never ending demands from them. The brand may ask hotels to keep upgrading the property and  keep changing constant changes. These will cause additional expenses to the hotels.
