COVID Related Safe Travel Tips – Offered by Health Experts

Here are some public health experts’ advice for traveling safely during a pandemic:

Do Your Research:

During a pandemic, “the best thing you can do to keep yourself safe,” says Dr. Quigely. “Before travel, be aware of travel restrictions at your destination, including quarantine, vaccination, and testing requirements upon arrival. You should also know the same requirements regarding returning to your place of residence. Also know your destination’s rules and regulations regarding masks and social distancing, and the extent to which your destination has been affected by COVID-19.”

Mask Up:

“Make sure that you stay properly masked when flying or using any other public transportation,” advises Dr. Evans. “Ensure that your mask fits well and covers your nose and your mouth.”

Maintain Your Hygiene:

Maintaining your hygiene is always vital, but it is extremely critical during a pandemic. Dr. Huxley says, “The gold standard of infection prevention control during any outbreak is basic hygiene.”

Keep Your Distance:

“Avoid activities that involve being near those you didn’t travel with. Participate in activities where you can appropriately social distance and spend time outside to avoid exposure.” Says Dr. Quigley.

Pack Smartly:

“Bring antibacterial wipes and alcohol-based hand sanitizer that has 70 to 90 percent ethanol,” Dr. Susky advises. Bring enough medical-grade face masks as well as extra prescription drugs that you rely on, as virus outbreaks might result in unexpected lockdowns or quarantines that could postpone your return home.

Prepare To Cancel Or Postpone:

“No one should travel when unwell, even if just moderately,” Susky says. “Doing so contradicts all current public health mandates.” Furthermore, persons who have allergies or a ‘cold’ should be aware that they may be carrying SARS-CoV-2.”

Protect Yourself On Planes:

If you must fly during a pandemic, experts stress the need of wearing a mask for as much of the trip as possible, especially if individuals around you are removing theirs to eat or drink. Plan to eat a full lunch and drink before heading to the airport so that you can remain masked on the plane.

Take Precautions When Staying At Hotels:

Public health experts appear to agree that staying in a hotel has a minimal risk of coronavirus transmission, especially if a few critical precautions are taken. Susky advises hotel guests to wash their hands frequently, particularly after visiting the toilet and before eating.

Be Responsible Around Friends And Relatives:

If you’re going to see family or friends, the experts have some tips for you as well. “It’s advisable to keep social distance in relatives’ residences, especially during the first few days of a visit,” Susky advises.
